We are going from Feb 20 till March 13th. First we isgoing to be Carnaval with friends and family and then we are staying for Golf, Sun and relaxation :o)

March 2nd

Again we were up at 7am.

The girls sleep in a bite more. Had breakfast and then our morning walk did lots of reading that day. The Ocean was still a bit unclear but we could swim in it.

Still no suitcases but got in touch with Air Canada and they are to arrive in Cozumel before 5pm today.

It's about time because Christian was not happy with the situation. Air Canada will be looking it paying us for the 2 days of missing golf.

Went to the iguana grill for dinner it was very good. Then we went to town to give a local flavor to the girls trip. On Sunday they have dancing on the main plaza and we had Churros for desert.

We came back to the hotel and had a night cap and the girls went to the show.

March 1st

We were up at 7am.

Off to the beach for some fun in the sun. The water in the ocean was not all clear up yet from the last norte the had just before we came in yesterday. Cancelled the tee time we had at the golf course.

Breakfast was very good and took a long walk on the beach after. We all took it easy and relaxed on the beach for the day. Everyone fell a sleep by the end of the day.

The girls were a bite toasted for a first day. We had dinner at the buffet and then went to town for a taste on the local culture and a bit of shopping.

Christian stayed at Kelley's bar to watch hockey game that was on their big screen.

Came back at the hotel around 9h30 had a last drink and then every one was off to bed.

February 29th

Our day started early at 3h30 am.

Got to the airport via taxi and got everything tag and send to the plane with enough time to go through security.

Got off a bit late but got to Pearson on time. We had just enough time to do a stop at Tim Horton for coffee then got to the gate just one time for the final boarding.

Plane rid was ok we talk all the way in with a good friend from Cozumel Dawn we hadn't seen in 2 years. Great catching up with them.

Got true emigration no problem then surprise only one suitcases made it to the plane.

Waited to fill in the paper work to send to Air Canada to try to recover them for tomorrow via Mexico City and Mexicana air line.

Crossing our fingers that everything is going to be in by then.

Tonight we are going to Café Paraiso for dinner all 5 of us.

Thursday Feb 28th

Very busy day,

Went to my beauticians for pedicure, leg wax, facial and then my hair dresser for a final cut.

Got home and did final touch on the suitcases, laundry and got dinner going.

Now we have to get up at 3h15am to go to the airport and catch our first flight from Ottawa to Toronto. Then we have 1h15 minutes to go from one gate to the other next flight is at 8h40.

From what we could see on the forecast tonight, we are leaving just on time before a snow storm comes in again.

14 days a sun shine is very welcome we are starting to get the winter bleus.

Back at the suitcase for next Friday Feb 29th

We are back at packing the suitcases.

We are leaving next friday with our good friend Johanne, Cloé (her dauther) and a friend of Cloé Catherine.

Lots of fun on the horizon. Got in touch with the Manta crew for the Sunset cruise.

We are having dinner with the dog sitter Amélie, who will be staying home with the 2 dogs Margarita and Mojito....

For dinner Filet mignon and all sort of good things.

Got an email from our good friends Pat and Steve and they are on the beach waiting for us to come in next week :o) That's OK will be there to send them back home on March 7th when will be staying for our second week.

Last day on the Island for this trip. Full sunny day with 28 degrees.

You have to go back is you want to come back Christian said to me this morning.

Played another round of golf in the morning with Adam and Tom. Final score was 90 for Chris and 96 for Lyne.

Now it's time to catch up on the sun tan if we want to show it off when we get back to the office on Tuesday morning.

Since it's our last evening we decided to try a new restaurant in town and return the car at the same time because tomorrow we will be flying early. We went to a new Italian restaurant called Sunrrisi. Very good food and with the evening being chilly it was nice to eat inside.

January 4th

Sun is back with us still a lot of wind.

Went around the island and stop a few minutes at Chen Rio and Rasta bar.

Everything was very quite. Stop on the way back at Cava Antigua to pick up the Tequila for my sister and mother in law.

Spent the rest of the day on the beach and at the pool.

Still no sun on the radar :o(

We played inside a few games of crib! Chris is the winner.

Went back to town to walk for a bit and pick up our laundry. Not much going on their also very few ships in town again.

Chris found a new friend to pet?

Temperature is about 17 degrees.

Got up with a nice storm coming from the North. No boats allowed out of the port even cruise ship that couldn't dock turned around.

The temperature is dropping slowly from 27 to 21 to 16 at night.

Got to wear a our Canadian clothes to go out at night :o)

Went to town to walk and shop a bit. Met with Andrea from Human society at Tony Rome and had dinner at Primas.

Got back to the hotel and went to bed.

We are having a great time. Second round of golf Chirs 92 Lyne 98. Got to play alone on the first 9th and played with Bill and Sandy on the back.

Problems with the wind....

We had a great time at the Beach Party last night but had to go to bed to be able to golf this morning.

Weather is nice 28 degrees.

We got up to play our first round of golf. Hip works fine and no more pain.

We started on the back nine because of the crowed coming from the cruise ships.

Final score Chris 87 and Lyne 92 not bad considering this is the first game with the new hip.

We got back to the hotel had lunch and power snooze on the beach. Big night today.

They were setting up a stage and dance floor on the beach for the hotel guest to party on.

Had a great dinner at the buffet.

Good food, good win, good company in a 28 degree evening you can't miss.

December 30th

Got up at 4 am to catch our next flight to Cozumel.

Got to terminal 1 with lots of other travelers to Cozumel and Varadero.

Sunwing flight was on time and no delay to get off the ground. Service on the flight was very good. Plenty of leg room because of the preselected seats we did.

Hot breakfast and good movie. Got to Cozumel at around 9h35 am. Went through Costumes no problem. Immigration no problem.

Yes everything got in with us...

no missing suitcase!

Christian went across the street to pick up our rental car. Got to the hotel at 11 am has usual everything was ready for us. Room on the 7th floor with bath robe and fruit plater.

Feels good to be welcome like this. Had dinner at Cafe Paraiso the food was great.

We left home to leave our dogs with our good friend Catherine.

Call to check from the Airport our good friend Mark Ross to wish him a happy birthday.

Had a toast to him.

Left Ottawa on time and got into Toronto on time. When waiting for our suitcases the intercome came on to announce that some suitcases didn't make the flight.

Hi everyone,

We had great family gatherings with both of our families over Christmas and now are ready for a real vacation.

Finished the suitcases this morning. Got the dogs stuff ready for the drop off at my friend Catherine tomorrow at lunch. So we are finally ready for another Cozumel adventure.

We are leaving on West Jet tomorrow at 17h15 for Toronto. Will sleep over at the Sheraton Gateway. Will see you in Toronto tomorrow night.

Day after the storm

Hi Everyone,

This is what the street looks like after the storm. In total we got about 40cm of new snow. This is not funny the snow blower could barely put the last of it on top of the snow bank in front of the house.

Can't wait to get to Cozumel on Dec 30th....12 more days :o)

Day 2 in Cozumel

We got up this morning and head down for breakfast before our first round of golf.

The restaurant open only at 7am so no need to rush and try to get down early.

We got a good meal down and headed to to course. New staff catered to us Joaquin has left, Olan is on his day off and Ivan is on vacation until Monday.

Got to hit a few balls before we tee off. For sure we are the only schedule player for the day.

So we got to play the round in about 3 1/2 hours and got back to the hotel at around 11h. Got changed and got to the beach we are Sunday and we have about 50 peoples in the hotel leaving to day.

We told Tj and Ross we would meet then in town for dinner at local restaurant call Casa Denis. We had typical Mexican food, TJ and I got the fish and Christian and Ross the chicken mole. We got to see Adrian since he was on the cash for the evening for his brother.

After a good meal we got up and went dancing on the plaza with the locals. The Cuban band we saw last December we on the plaza playing Salsa music. Stop at Fat Tuesday for a few beers and some Chirros. It's a Mexican donut rolled in sugar and cinnamon.

We have rented a car from smart car and got this Blue VW convertible. It was park in front of Adrian restaurant in the empty lot. There is a lot of construction going on around the plaza. The flee market shops have all been moved around the plaza until the new building are ready. About 6 mexican months we were told. We made an appointemnent with TJ and Ross for next Friday for a tour of the Island, some snorckeling at Dzul Ha and some fish plater at Chen Rio.

Leaving for Cozumel September 1st

We got at the airport in Ottawa at 12h30. We waited for TJ and Ross for about 30 minutes before we got in line. Since they were not in we got in line. Lots of peoples today.

They finally got her at 13h05 and got in line. We were checking in when they got in the line up. Gave my extra suitcase full of school supplies to TJ.

We got on to the plane and everything was fine no carrying of the suitcases once in Toronto because they are already tag for the Cozumel flight.

We got to Toronto just in time to walk from one gate to the other. This is as long of a walk then having to go to Terminal 3 with the new train.

Since everybody was on time we left early for Cozumel. Loaned my Cozumel map to TJ to read on the way down. Lots of leg room on Air Canada in economy class. The meal was not so great and very limited. Movies we had a good choice and free of charge for everyone on board. A beer is $6.00 not cheap.

Got in Cozumel at 19h35 their time. It was nice and warm about 27 degrees. It was so nice to feel this nice seat heath.

We got into the airport shuttles and of to El Cozumelenos we when, Tj and Ross to the Allegro.

We had time to unpack and get down for a decent meal at El Cocal and food was fresh and very tasty.

We are heading down for an other week of fun in the sun.

Yes Christian wanted a golf weekend to Tremblant was more expensive then a week all-inclusive in Cozumel.

So we are coming down for a week From September 1st till 8th.

New season prices

Hi everyone,

The Cozumel prices for the next season have started to come out. Unlike other years the prices are very high. That's OK we can't book anything for now any way.

Got my visit with my surgeon in Montréal and I'm on the waiting list for a new hip. Once that is done and my recovery is on the go we will look at booking something.

We really hope we can go down for new-years. Time will tell.

Have fun in the sun for those of you that are golfers out there. I play every game I can until the day.

News from the insurance Cie

The rest of our expenses were covered this week. The insurance company paid us the difference.

It took them some time but the amount was covered in full.

We also got an answered back from the hotel management and thing are being work out. They told us that the Grill à la carte restaurant should be back for the next high season lost of people were not satisfied with the lunch formula they had.

Will keep you posted on the next trip.

Lost baggage from the Christmas trip update

Good news,

Canjet paid us for the 2 missing suitcases for more then 50 hours. Sunquest issued us a travel certificate for our next trip and refunded us our premier packages.

So fare we are very please with the way they handle our issues. We will do business with them again. One thing we have understood out of this exercises is that until you contact them and complain you can't take for granted that they know about the problems.

Please don't be afraid to contact them and let them know your in satisfaction. Customers feed back is the best way for them to know what goes on at our destinations.

I have also send an email to the Sol Melia management because their has been a lot of changes at the hotel and the text on their web page as well as what they provied the wholesalers for their magazine. They don't have 2 à la carte restaurants any more but the food quality has improved a lot.

We are still waiting on the insurance company to pay for the cloths, medication and utilities items we had to buy until our bags got to us.

Friday March 9th

Nice and sunny day. Lot of cruise ship coming in today. We had breakfast and back at the pool to read and sit in the sun.

Just about everybody that was around the pool was coming back on the same plan has us. Every body was sad to go. At 11h30 we went back to the room to take a shower and change. Has we got out of the room it started raining again. Someone was sad to see us going we though.

Victor came up to the room to pick up the suitcases. We gave him a full bag of kids stuff for his grand children and a baseball cap. We check out and went for lunch at the buffet and then the rain stop.

Christian and Victor pack the car with the suitcases and off to the airport we go. He drop me at the door with all of the suitcases at a maletero came to carry everything inside. Christian went to smart rent a car to return the car.

The line up are not very long so buy the time I got to the counter Christian was not back. The lady at the counter gave me my boarding pass and told me to send my husband directly to the counter once he came in the airport. Christian came in got his boarding pass and off through security we chatted with a young boy and his grand mother. He wanted to practice his English but was a bit shy.

Once across Christian went to the lunch area to see if he could surf on the net but couldn't figure out how too. So we started walking around and chatted with Marc and Steve for a moment.

At 2h30 they started boarding the plane. We were siting in the front Mark and Cathy just the row behind us. Pat and Steve a bit further back. This time they had movies for us to watch. After the take off and security presentation they came back with the digiplayers and watch a movie until they were ready to serve lunch.

Time went by very quickly and by 19h30 we were getting off the plane at Pearson airport. We got through customs fairly quickly and the golf bagges were already waiting for us. The suitcases took a little longer. Once out of the baggage area we proceded to go to the up level to go to terminal 1 with the light rail train. Once at terminal 1 we stop at one of the checking machine and pickup our boarding passes.

Got to the Air Canada counter and the lady was jalouse of our tannes. We drop 2 suitcaises, then took the clubs to the large item counter. Off to security again, once across we stop at Tim Hortons for a coffee, peppermint tea and 2 bagels with cream cheese. Lots of people coming from other destination on the same flight has us.

Got to Ottawa at 11h45 it took a long time to get our suitcases. Got into a cab to go home.

Thursday March 8th

The sun in trying to come through the clouds. Christian was not feeling well enought to play golf so I went down to meet Steve and tell him we were not going to play and take our tee time.

Went to get a coffee and peppermint the to take back to the room. Christian wanted to sleep some more so I pick up my stuff and went to the pool to sit in the sun and read my book.

Around 9h30 I went to the buffet to get some breakfast and Christian showed up. After that we went into town to fill up the car with gas. Christian left me in town so I could do some shopping. He went to the Golf course to get the clubs. Once back at the hotel he went a laid down by the pool to rest and read his book.

I was back at the hotel at 12h30 with everthing I wanted and needed. Packed most of the suitecases and went by the pool to see Chrisitan. We had lunch and relaxed by the pool for the rest of the day.

At 5h30 we watch the last sun set and took a few pictures. The sky was getting ugly again and we had rain just a bit of rain during dinner.

We eat with Pat and Steve at the buffet. They had good traditionnal Mexican food then went to the Mexican fiesta show. This was one of the best Mariachi band I have see so far in Mexico.
After we sat at the lobby bar and had a few night cap of to bed at 11h30.

This is it tomorrow we go back.

Wednesday March 7th.

The sun is shining and we took a day off from Golf. We setup by the pool for most of the morning. Christian went to get a golf lesson from Ivan to find out how to correct his driving problems. After lunch the wind was down so we moved back to the beach and the clouds started to move in again. So I went to the spa to got a massage.

Back in the room Christian was not feeling well and took a long hot bath. After taking medication for it he went to bed. I took a shower, got dress and went down to up date the blog.

Had a chat with John and Roberta and a happy hour drink. It started raining again at 18h00. Pat , Steve, Mark and Cathy and I went for dinner at the buffet. Beautyfull Chicken cordon Bleu with all of the trimings.

Took some back to Christian at 8h30. He was feeling better and was hungry for the plat I took back to the room for him.

He staid in bed and I went back to the lobby bar and chatted with the others for a bit and then it was time for bed 10h30.

Tomorrow is the last full day we have snif snif...

Tuesday March 6th.

Up early again to go golfing. The weather is a bit better less wind. Golf for this round Steve, Mark, Chris and Lyne, final score Steve 97, Mark 97, Chris 91 and Lyne 95.

Back at the hotel the sun was back out still too much wind for the beach back at the pool no wind and the sun was very hot. We spend the day enjoying it and reading.

It’s Mark and Cathy Wedding Anniversary so we went to the Café Paraiso for dinner with them. We order the bottle of champagne that Melia offered me for my birthday. Dinner was at 8h30 and was fantastic.

Went back to the lobby bar for digestive and gone to bed for 11h30.

Monday March 5th.

The wind was blowing like crazy and still a slit mist of rain. Got up and dressed to play golf. We met with Steve, John and Roberta at the buffet. We had breakfast and golf all together. Final score was Chris 97, Steve 94 and Lyne 94.

Too much wind and no sun so Steve ordered some fish from the chef and we had lunch all together. The fish was just great….nothing left. The sun came out for a bit but not strong enough to site by the ocean so we went to the pool for about 2 hours. Went back to the room had a nap and played backgammon Christian is the winner.

Showered and went down for dinner with Cathy, Mark, Steve, Pat and us. They had a roasted pig and it was very good. Went to the show and left to go to bed 10h30.

Sunday March 4th.

No golf today, we are off to the beach and deep tanning. The weather is very hot today the sun was just burning our skin and no wind what so ever.

I finished my book and Christian is now into his. We got an email from my sister and she got home with a bit of delay but everything is OK.

We went into town for dinner. We wanted a change of past and food. We had dinner at Prima the beef Capachio was good but the pizza his not a specialty. During dinner the sky came down and it down pored for about a good hour. We had not put the roof on our VW convertible so the seat were a bit wet to go back to the hotel.

We did a bit a shopping before we had dinner. That was a good move because after that it’s out of the question with the rain.

The evening was very hot with the humidity from the rain. Went to the show then of to bed 11h00.

Saturday March 3rd.

Golf for Lyne and Chris, we couldn't fine Steve the night before. Christian found is golf game and beat me hands down Chris 88 and Lyne 95.

Once back at the hotel it was time for laundry. Pat got her bag ready and we went to town to drop it, they do everything for you. You just have to go and pick it up a few hours later.

Back at the hotel we went to the beach the sun was very strong. We went and played a crazy came. We had to toss balloons full of water with a beach towel, this was lot of fun. At 2 pm we had to hide in the shade, even swimming wasn’t enough to cool us dawn. Christian took a nap and Lyne did some reading.

At 6pm we went back to pick up the laundry with Steve and on the we back to the room we saw more friends that just got in today. John, his wife and their friends from Alaska just got in after a 13 hours plan ride.

We had dinner at the buffet with Pat and Steve. It was seafood night it was very good. We went back to the room to pick up the laptop to check on emails and update the blog.

Off to bed at 10h30 for Lyne and Christian stayed up a bit to check on the scores.

Friday March 2nd

No golf today we are going to stay with Hélène until 11am then we are off to the ferry to meet with Jacques and Sylvie for a tour of the Island. We sat down at Fat Tuesday for lemonade and plan where to start.

Off to Chen Rio for lunch first it was a nice drive around the island. We took a small walk on the beach to let lunch go down and then left for Dzul Ha for some snorkeling.

Jacques and Sylvie really enjoyed their adventure under the sea. We saw very nice fish’s.

We then left to show them the hotel we stay so the have a look at the golf course across the street.

After our tour of the hotel we then took them back to the ferry so they could catch the 6 pm one.

Back at the hotel we found it a bit empty with out the rest of the gang gone. Out of the plane only 6 of us are here Steve and Pat, Mark and Cathy and Lyne and Chris.

Had dinner at the buffet Oriental food was better then last Friday. Christian stayed up to surf the net and Lyne went to bed.

Thursday March 1 st

Golf tee time at 7am and these are the comment from the guys.

There we were on the Links; Chris Steve and Lyne … did she ever beat the crap out of us!!

Steve said: It’s a good job she can drive a golf ball because a golf cart is a different thing…

Final score Chris 93, Steve 87 and Lyne 91.

Last full day for Hélène so we went around and snorkeled for a bit and then looked some crazy came the GO’s organized two by two throwing an egg at some point it got very messy when the eggs started braking.

We had lunch at the grill out side with corn on the cob and grilled steak. The sun was very hot again so swimming was in order also.

Dinner was at the buffet for Mexican night. Very good traditional food with chicken mole, fajitas, beans, sweet potato’s and desert. The mariachi band was very good with mayan dancers.

After that Hélène had to go pack her stuff if she wanted to have time for the beach. Off to bed at around 10h30. Christian stayed up for a bit to teach Brian and Kim how to us they digital camera.

Wednesday Feb 28th

Christian is off to golf with Steve and Mark. My hip was bugging me and decided to stay behind to let it rest a bit more. Got up and up loaded some picture for the blog. Then off to the beach for the day with Hélène, were are just half way through our books now.

The guys got back at 11h00 and the day is very hot so swimming in the ocean was in order. Water temperature was just like a bath with colored fishes around us.

The hotel in conjunction with Fat Tuesday’s (bar in town) organized at the hotel at Caribbean night with a band and dinner on the beach. It was a lot of fun.

We also celebrated Brian Birthday he turned 32. Pictures can speak by them self.

11h30 off to bed we are playing golf tomorrow am.

Tuesday Feb 27th

We got up at 7h30 no golf today. We are going to Chakanaab park for snorkeling and the dolphin encounter. Had a good breakfast so we could wait to be on the wild side for lunch at Chen Rio.

The snorkeling at Chakanaab is not back compare to Dzul Ha at new years lots more damage there. The sea life will have to work really hard in the next few years!

Hélène was very pleased with her dolphin experience and has good souvenirs to take home with her DVD and pictures.

After that we left for the wild side. The wind was full blast and the waves were huge.

Stop at the Rasta bar to do some more shopping for Florence. They have all sorts of necklace and that’s what she asked for. Hélène got her self an ankle bracelet.

Back on the road we stop at Chen Rio at 1h30 for lunch and a few beers. The food was marvelous and the lemonade was homemade. Then we went of to play in the waves.

The day was so nice and warm 35 degrees and full of sun. On the road back to town we decided to add one more thing to our tour of the island. We stop for the Tequila plantation tour. The Margaritas they served us are one of the best I had in many years. The Tequila didn’t upset my stomach like it usually does. The tour is very nice and informative, and the tour guide simply funny as he pointed out often the love magic potion that is Tequila…. They have on site real Agavey plants after the tour you can sample some of the product they have. The brand they represent is Cava Antigua and you can take some home for a very reasonable price. Nice bottled presentation and different flavored tequila also for after meal drinks.

Back to the hotel we relaxed and had dinner very late and very light. Went to the show and had fun for a bit in the lobby with the other Canadians. Off to bed at 10h30.

Monday Feb 26th in paradise

Another beautiful day at golf course for Christian, Lyne and Steve. The hotel sent us a nice fruit platter to our room last night so we had a few before heading to the golf course.

Tee time was 7h30 final score was Christian 92 and Lyne 95. It was very hot day on the course a cost Christian a few balls. Back at the hotel I took some time to right some of my blog and check on email to see if everything was fine at home.

Got an email from Sylvie and Jacques at the Bahia Principe and they will not be able to make it to Cozumel tomorrow. They will try to come on Friday so will wait and see if it works out.

Hélène booked her dolphin encounter tour for tomorrow.

After a full day of sun at 3pm we got dress and went to town to do some shopping. Hélène and I fond our self’s some souvenir. Got a table clothe for Julie in Québec and a few necklace for our godchild Florence. Christian waited for us at the Casa Denis and had a few beers. We also went to Cheddraui for some mint Leaf so we could have a few Mojitos at the hotel.

We then went to Especias for dinner food was fantastic. Cost was very reasonable for the 3 of us $750.00 pesos including tip and drinks. Back at the hotel we went to the show and had a few Mojitos and lots of fun.

Called it a night at 10h30.

Up bright and early again to go golfing with Steve and someone else from the hotel (the other Steve). Got breakfast then gone to the course. Tee time was 7h30 final score was Christian 88 and Lyne 98. Got back to the hotel and down to the beach. Christian got the Internet hook up. Now we can keep you up to date.

We have to be in the lobby to do so but that is ok. We are having a very good time and the weather is just perfect.

Hélène has been doing the stretching on the beach and snorkeling from the beach. We have met a lot of new people.

We had dinner at the buffet and then went to the show “name that tune” Christian didn’t succeed at winning some of the prize.

Feb 24 seconde day in paradise

We got up at 6h30 got dress and down for breakfast we took down our club with us so we would not have to go back up. Off to golf we got their with enough time to hit ball at the rang before our tee time.

Final score Christian 84, Lyne 99. Not bad for a first round. Back at the hotel for 11h00 got in our swimsuit and down to the beach were we found Hélène close to the beach bar. She was starting to have a bit of a tan. Time to relax and enjoy the time off. Genny came by in the afternoon and told us the consol was working great and that her daughter was very excited about it.

We made a reservation at 8h30 for the 3 of us at Café Pariso. We went back to our room at 4h00 to relax and sleep a bit. Christian stayed at the bar with the boy and had a few cold ones in the cold pool.

Came to the room for his nap around 5h30pm.

Got all dressed up and went to have dinner at the A la Carte restaurant the big fish tank is still as nice as it was in past trip. They have brand new furniture and the chairs are very comfortable. Nice 4 services meal Lyne had the Duck, Christian the pasta and Hélène had the giant shrimp.

We were all in bed by 10h30.

First day in Cozumel Feb 23rd 2007

The winner is Lyne and Christian. We got in at Pearson first. Hélène’s flight got delayed for one hour in Montréal. When we got to in at Pearson we went the Sunquest counter to pick up our premier package then went to the premier line up and got our boarding passes. We also got Hélène a seat up in front with us

She got in around 9h45 at the security. We were waiting for her at the Tim Horton’s. We then move on to the gate. When we got there we saw friends from pass trips also going back to the Melia.

Pat and Steve from Brampton (Ontario) are also coming down for 2 weeks.

The flight was no problem. We got in Cozumel before our time. The immigration and custom we very fast no red light. Christian got the suitcases put in one of the minibus then went with Hélène to Smart rent a car to pick up our rental car for the next 2 weeks.

We both got rooms in the tower on the 7th floor, great view from the balcony and the new beds are nice and comfit. Met with Genny at 7pm and gave her the Nintendo Wii.

We had dinner at the Isla buffet and went in town after to Tony Rome’s Embassy restaurant to deliver the Pepper he asks us to take down for him.

After that we walk around the main plaza and had look at the band playing.

Than off to bed it’s 9h30pm. We have to be up by 6h00 to go golfing at 7h33.

We are ready to go. Friday morning our cab will come and pick us up at 5h30 am. We first go from Ottawa to Toronto on Air Canada flight 441 at 7am. We will get in at Pearson airport at 8h05. My sister is on the 7am flight from Montreal to Toronto on West Jet.

Our good friend Genny is always been very friendly with us and the service at the hotel front desk before the trip and during the trip is outstanding.

You need something in your room you go see Genny and she will make sure you get and no Mexican time before you get it.

This year when she found out that we were coming down she sent us an email and ask us a favour. With the service she has been given us over the years Christian and I couldn’t say no to her request.

She has been looking for a Nintendo Wii for her daughter’s birthday since they came out. They are impossible to get in Cancun. So last Saturday I got up at 7am to go too the Toys R’Us by our place and got in line for one of the 20 machines they were suppose to get that day. After 2 hours of waiting at -20 degrees I got the machine for her.

When she got my email about having the console, she was pretty excited and the answer was that we would have the best vacation ever at the hotel.

So stay tuned to see if this will come true.

My little sister coming along for the first week

My sister Hélène is joining us for the first week, for her annual trip. She got the itch for south after coming with us to Cancun last year. With her we will try new stuff and see new things. We will go around the Island to Punta Sur and tour the Park. We are going to do the Pirate dinner cruise and swim with the Dolphins.

Can’t wait to show her how much fun we can have in paradise. Last year in Cancun we got rain and the beach was not very friendly for swimming but this time she will experience the perfect beach. We came on island to spent the day and waited to see the carnaval parade but it rained on us so bad that we got socked and had to go back to the main land. This time Cozumel is not a day trip it’s a full 7 days for her to enjoy.

She will be leaving from Montréal and us from Ottawa. We are both leaving at 7am let’s see who will get there first.

Connecting to the flight in Pearson is so easy this year it’s only at 10h45 am so plenty of time change from terminal 1 to 3. The new monorail is easy to catsh and you don’t have to go out side anymore.

Time to pack again

Hello everyone,

We are at the 30 days mark and have to start packing again. Did the golf clubs with a bit more balls this time, the December trip was costly on does. Made sure we have some of the thing we mist on the first trip. So packed with the golf club are a change of clothes for Golf just in case Pearson losses track of our suitcases again.

We also pack a carry-on bag to take along on the plane with more then just a swim suite, beach dress and flip-flops. We have invested in some new suitcases because the other ones we have are way too easy to over load and 20 kilos for 2 weeks is not much. So we tried to pack the same things has for 7 days and will get some of the clothes wash half way through.

On the February trip we have my sister Hélène coming with us so you will get a new bee to Cozumel version. We will also bring our laptop with us since we have found that there are more and more places on the main plaza with free internet access.

Next trip we will be staying at the Meliá. The 3 of us will be down from Feb 23^rd till March 2nd and then just Christian and me from March 2^nd till March 9^th. We will probably get a visit from Christian Sister Sylvie and her better half Jacques for a tour of the Island. They will be across at the Bahia Principe for the March break.

Will be trying new stuff like the Dolphin encounter for Hélène and the Pirate Lobster Dinner Cruise.

After a meal at this restaurant no mosquito will come with in 5 feet of you. Christian when he retired from the military got him self a Cadillac CTS. He just simply loves this car but he wanted to personalise it to him. So he took down with him an old plat from when he was in Germany and got it painted by one of the local artist. This way he will take Cozumel with him every were he goes in town. This is just a small snack bar on the beach with an easy way in the water but a place that will amaze you with the quantity of thing you can see under water. We have seen a lot more fauna and flora then ever before on this course. Yes far more low bushes and not very many tall threes are left. But all sorts of new birds, butterflies, and flowers and some of the fan palm that were not very tall last year have grown by about 4 feet. Cozumel Golf and Country Club

This is the entrance were you will fine the Pro Shop and restaurant.

Once you play your first round the Club will store your golf club so you don’t have to take them back and fort between your room and golf course.

Joaquin and Olan will take good care of them for you they will clean the club and shoes after every round and have then ready for you before your next room.

With a temperature of 30 to 35 degrees every day the restaurant will provide you with a cooler and cold water to carry with you. At this temperature Christian and I were drinking about 4 litres per round. Cost cheep $4.00 us keep in mind that everything is bottled and you don’t have to think about it before you get to the club.

The Course is a Par 71 Nicklaus design it’s not a PGA approved course but man be ready to lose some ball if you are not in your golf bobble that day. So put lots in your bag before your leave home because they are not cheep in Cozumel.

The vegetation has grown back a lot and since they lots most of the big trees and palm. You see a lot of new stuff around the different holes.

The phone work me up at 4h30 Jesus has our suitcases at the Airport but no transportation to take them back to us. So got up and went to the beach to find Christian sitting at the bar talking with a very nice couples from Minneapolis.

We got the keys and went to met Jesus at the Airport to see if we could help since we add a rented car for the week. Great news for us our suitcases are there but 2 still missing. So 7 out of 9 still pretty bad after 48 hours of waiting.

Off to Melia to drop 4 of them and 3 for Playa Azul. So got back to the room to unpack and see if anything was missing. Cases were intact. Unpacked everything and pick something so the night in Town.

Big night at La Cocay

Day number 3

We got up again with a wonderful day ahead.

The sun was shining and the ocean was like a mirror no wind.

We got up a dress up in the cloths we had washed to go golfing again. The breakfast was just perfect French toast and bacon. We left with the car for the golf course total for the day Chris 89 and Lyne 101. We played with a couple on they first visit at the Melia and stop buy on the way back to salute Genny and Julio-Cesar. Genny was so happy to see us that we got big hug. Julio was not working until the evening.

Stayed with Maud and Bruce for a few beers and then went back to Playa Azul rumours were that our suitcases were in Cancun or Cuzumel.

Once at the hotel we had lunch and then the beach. After a few hours under the sun I started to feel sleepy and went to the room to snozzz. Christian was already asleep on the beach when I left him. This is New Years eve and don’t want to be sleepy at 11pm.

Seconday day

Good start.

We had breakfast at the hotel. The buffet is complete and very nice. Then up in the rental car and went to the Golf course. Christian finally found cloths that fitted him their but the prices came with it.

Now we where set for golf Olin and Joaquin are still working their and were very happy to see us return. They took care of everything and off on the course we went. Final score was 84 for Christian and 101 for Lyne....he made me play from the white tees with him.

After the round we went back to the hotel. Once there we were told to pack our bags that the new room would be ready shortly. Had lunch and moved then off to the beach for some sun.

Started to read and fell a sleep in our books from all the commotion of the two days.

Got an email from the travel agents nothing can be done on her end until Tuesday everybody his close for the long New Years weekend.

So tonight we went to town to get some clothes wash. Got the 1 hour service and it was great. Now I have something to wear for tomorrow. We are hopping that maybe our suitcases are on tonight flight from Skyservice.

Got the voucher for the room and the hotel was quite happy.

We had dinner at Casa Denis, Christian tasted the chicken mole and I had the beef brochette very good. Did a bit more shopping and came back to the hotel.

Traveling day from hell

Friday was a bad day to travel.

We first got to the airport the Canjet reps at Pearson are not use to handle a big load of passenger! We are traveling in Premier class and it took her 30 minutes to check our suitcases?

Then we got delayed of 20 minutes for missing suitcases! Took off once the missing suitcases were found! Then de-icing needed to be done so another 15 minutes pass by before we were on our way.

Canjet airline uses these old Boeing 737-300 that are not fitted for entertainment. So they can rent you a portable DVD player for the flight at $10.00. Then the meals were frozen and dry and not a breakfast but a lunch meals dry bun sandwich. Good thing we had breakfast at the airport :o)

The seats are much narrower then normal and the length is just enough to have half of your butt on the seat.

Once at destination it was sunny 29 degrees and very welcoming. We were first to go through customs and got our golf clubs right away then surprise......we got to the end of the suitcases no suitcases for 9 passengers on the flight :o(

We had to fill in all of the paper work and then were told that they could not send it with the returning flight they had to be faxed. No body is open on Saturday at Sunquest or Canjet.

Contacted the insurance got the OK for $500.00 each to buy the essentials. Let me tell you that Mexicans don’t dress the same size has us. So finding under wear was quite an adventure.

We contacted our Travel agent Paula at Redtag right away. We have left emails with the Terminal 3 lost and found to see if they could track the suitcases and Sunquest customer services, so far no answer!

Last but not least the Sunquest package didn't have the voucher for the hotel, got a room with 2 double beds and promise to be moved.

So last night we did lots of shopping at Chedraui and had dinner with our friend Adrian at Especias. I had the garlic breast of chicken and Christian had the shrimp rap in bacon. Everything was just perfect. It was nice to see him and talk with him.

Cruz Roja Cozumel this years charity

Count down is at 10 days. There is excitement in the air.

When we go down we try to be more then just tourist. Since Wilma the small community of San Miguel has been taking care of its community member lots more. Let’s hope that this year’s high season will be a big one so families can bring more money to the table.

Got the OK from Canjet and Air Canada to take down the Cruz Roja supplies and they gave me an entitlement for 10kg.

My work colleagues and friend have supplied us with all kinds of items, latex gloves, zinc oxide for pediatric use, all kinds of wound care items, antibacterial gel, antibiotic ointment, children vitamins and of course money, $180.00 in total. I have to say a big Thanks You to everyone that contributed to this.

This is a great cause they take care of everyone that needs medical attention, including tourist. Our contact Deb told us that they would not turned down any one who comes in with supplies. They have the only ambulance service on the island. From our experience of the past 4 trips we have seen them taking care of lots of tourist with road rash. Tourist come into Cozumel thinking it could be cool to drive around town or the Island on a B-Wizz (small moped you see teenagers on) The down town core is mad of mostly one way streets and avenue and you have very few lights at intersections and mosly stops in one direction. So if you are planning a trip to Cozumel rent a Car it's so much safer.

Deb sent me all of the paper work that we need to take down our supplies. Christian made a special tag for our suite case so it’s clearly identified.

Got all of the Ironing done and waiting to be folded at the last minute. This trip is just for 7 days so will take only the basic and will wash things as needed. Laundry services are well organized in Cozumel and not expensive at all.

Our travel agent called us back and we will have to pickup our ticket at the Pearson Airport. Because we purchased the Premier Package Sunquest doesn't issue the ticket via email.

Very little time before we leave for Cozumel

Final count down has started 13 days before we go.

We have taken out the suite cases to start loading our things into them. We started by trying the clothes to see if everything fits. Surprise some of the items don’t fit, we will need to shop for a few last minutes items. Christian needs a few pair of shorts not easy to find in Canada in the middle of winter. Found 2 pairs at The Bay and found a swim truck at Bikini Village; the elastic in the waist line of 2 old ones had died.

Called the travel agent to find out when will we be getting the tickets? Waiting for a call back!

Took out the snorkelling equipment and inserted it in the golf carriers. Took out the underwater casing for the camera and all of the other items to go with it, can’t go under water with a digital camera with out moister muncher capsules and the card reader to be able to post new pictures for meals and places we will go to.

Took some bug spray with deet and put it in our suitcases because it’s still raining sporadically and that could generate mosquitoes at dawn.

I have been exchanging email with the hotel about the internet services. They are available on site but can’t use our laptop so it will stay home. We also ask if there was a mini bar in the room, none they lost them with Wilma and didn’t replace them. So put a folding cooler in the suite case.

I have ironed all of the cloths that needed it and put them in the suite cases. Took out the beach bag, Christian will carry it on board with our swim suite, crocs, games, MP3 player and book for him. Put the clothes to travel in the spare room.

Put the US money and pesos in my traveling bag; got the passport and put them in has well. Looked for our head phones and air plane adapters we will need them if they have a good movie on the way down.

Got our big mugs out of the kitchen these are very useful on the beach because you don’t need to go very often to get refills of water or soda and everything stays cold for hours.

Put a pair of dress sandals for our evening out on the town. Christian will put his slip on shoes to leave home has I can wear sandals with socks. It wouldn’t look good :o)

P.S. We also have to prepare things for the trip in Quebec City for Christmas.

Our friend from Cozumel

For the pass few weeks we have been exchanging emails with our friend in Cozumel.

We have talked with Adrian Angulo Romero. Adrian is a gold mind of information on Cozumel and native from the Island. You need something he knows were to find it. You want a good meal his restaurant is one of the best on the Island. This is where we are going to have our first dinner on the Island on December 29^th and it's called Especias (Spices).

We have met Adrian on the beach close to our hotel on our second trip to the Island. He was doing Snow Boarding on the Ocean with a kite attached to him?

This strange sport to us caught our attention and Christian and I started walking on the beach towards Adrian and his friends to find out what it was.

The sport is called Kite Boarding. From the looks of it, it is very demanding physically but to Christian it looked cool. For more information go to Adrian’s Web site, he now has a Kite Boarding school on the Island and gives lessons to the tourist that are seeking a new trill and sport.

Golf equipment is ready

Today we cleaned up and prepared all of our golf equipment.

We are allowed a bag, 12 balls, 14 clubs, glove and a pair of shoes each. Your golf equipment will be part of your entitlement of two suite cases, but the weight will not be regulated at 22 kg for both.

So we started by cleaning up the club from all the sand and grass accumulation of this summer. Then we took out all of the spikes out at the bottom of the shoes to clean and replace the broken ones. After the shoes have dried up, we wax and water proofed them. Not that we intend to play in the water, high grass or the sand traps but from Robin Williams monologue “they put shit in the way”.

Put clean towels on the bag and will put more balls in our suitcase because we will need more then 12 for 5 round. The course is very hard so balls will go into the jungle and you can’t retrieve all of them because you can encounter poisons snakes, iguanas, scorpions, trees and flowers. They have warnings everywhere along the course. In the ponds you have a bonus crocodiles. We also have a rain jacket and baseball cap for mother natures ups and downs.

Our golf clubs are then put in the protective cases. Get one of those because they will not take responsibility for any damages other wise. In the protective cases we have just enough room for our fins and mask for snorkelling.

We have also looked at what golf clothes we will need for the 5 rounds and see if everything is order or if some need replacements or fixing up.

Christian will need: 5 polo’s, 3 pairs of shorts and 5 pairs of golf socks.

Thursday of this week got called by Paula we have to do the final payment before Saturday. Yes we are now 45 days before departure time.

I have been to the CLSC for my vaccination for Tetanus and Polio. Christian and I tried to go to the flu vaccination for the general public. Way to may people turned around and called the CLSC for an appointment. Left a message and they will call us back.

Now we are looking at what we will have do before we go:

1-. Emailed the hotel for some tee times at the golf course. Eleazer answered us back right away. Because we wanted breakfast before we go he could get us out at 8h45 am on the following days December: 30, 31 and January 02, 03 and 04/2007.

2- We did our reservation for a car with Smart rent a Car for the full week.

William will send someone to pick up Christian at the Airport and I will leave on the shuttle for the hotel with the suitcases. This way we will both get to the hotel and be ready for the beach in no time. This is the first time we will have a car for the full duration of our vacation. We got a good price $191.00 usd full insurance. You need to take the Mexican insurance your Canadian or credit car ones will not cover you the proper way so piece of advice take them.

3- Send another email to the hotel. Since it’s our first time to this one we needed to know if they will provide us with the beach towel. Eleazer said no problem they are included in our package. Just like every other hotel he also told us that if we loose them we would have to pay for them.

4- Did the reservation for the Ottawa/Toronto with Aeroplane miles + taxes $168.94 for both of us. This is a good way to do it for not to much money.

Made a list of things we will need: Golf equipment and shoes, clothes and shoes, snorkel gear, medication, MP3 players, beach games and books.

Left a message on the Travel note board for Tony Rome to see if we could make our reservation for the New Years Eve party he will be throwing. Went to the Cozumel Insider Web page and the sun his shining. Tony Rome is a great place for Ribs and roasted chicken.

Start of a new adventure for Cozumel

Let's start by introducing our self's.

We are Christian Coulombe and Lyne Rivest. We have been traveling to Mexico for the past 14 years. We just love the Mexican culture and would like to share our love for this culture with you.

This trip is to Cozumel and it will be our 4^th one to this destination. We will be going from December 29^th till January 5^th. This time we are going to show you what we are doing to prepare our self for a trip down south.

We have purchase out trip through the lovely Paula Capano at Redtag.ca. She has provided us with all of the information on the destination plus the travel insurance for this trip. Since we have purchase this trip a few months in advance and we can’t read the future we also accepted the full travel insurance package.

Package is 7 night at the Playa Azul hotel with breakfast and golf included.

We had to make a deposit of $500.00 + insurance at this point.

We also need valid passport to get in the country. Check and we are OK expiration is in 2010.

Vaccination book:

Christian will need Flu, book appointment for November 11^th.

Lyne will need Tetanus + Polio+ Flu, book appointment for November 9^thand 11^th.
